With a maximum field of 120 players for the Thursday at Federal Golf club (due to the shot-gun start) and with current entrants at 115 the field is virtually full. I’ll be closing entries in the next few days and issuing the timesheets for Tuesday 21st Nov at Gungahlin Lakes, later in the week. It will be a two-tee start (1st and 10th tees, with first groups from 8:00am). Those that have requested later starts will be placed near the end of the field, but this will be around 9:45am at the latest.

Current registrations comprise around 90 men and 25 women. In the men’s group there are 8 players off + handicaps and around 50 others off a handicap of 5 or less — so a fairly strong field. In the women’s field more than half of the players are off single figure handicaps.

As in previous years, senior golfers from various ACT and NSW clubs dominate the field, but there are about 10 travelling down from Queensland, a hand-full from Victoria and 1 each from South Australia and Tasmania. Royal Canberra members dominate the registrations from Canberra.

The Gold Creek and Gungahlin Lakes Golf Clubs are hosting rounds of the National Championships of the Australian Veteran Golfer’s Association on the week before our event; their course superintendents have been busy in the lead-up, so that they can present their courses in great condition for these two major events.

Weather forecast looks OK. Day-time maximum temperatures in the high 20’s are likely.
