I’m sorry to have to report that Ross Jones, a long-term and life-member of Murrumbidgee Golf Club, and a major contributor to the DGA, before he moved up to the Central Coast about 10 years ago, died last Sunday at his retirement home on the Central Coast. Prior to my role as DGA Captain, I was the Junior Development Officer/Manager of the ACT Junior Golf team, for about 13 years from about 2002. Ross assisted me for many years with the junior development programs we ran in the Canberra region, and also went away with me as the Assistant Team Manager for the ACT Junior Boys teams that competed in the annual Junior Boys’ Open and Inter-state Series every Easter, between 2004 and 2011.
Prior to that, Ross had been on the DGA Match Committee for many years and in that pre-digital era, recorded and compiled all of the district’s Pennant results for many years.
