Royal Canberra’s scratch golfer Adam Granquist (photo above accepting trophy from DGA Captain Jim Jackson) won the Gross division of the 18-hole ACT-Monaro District Championships at the Queanbeyan Golf Course on Sunday 8th December, with a 1-under par round of 69, which included 1 eagle (on the 3rd hole) and three birdies. Joshua Reid (also Royal Canberra) was a close 2nd, just 1 shot behind, with Gold Creek’s Kane Smith in 3rd place, two shots adrift on 72.
An averaged-sized field of 33 played in lovely sunny conditions on the Queanbeyan course that was in excellent condition. Luckily none of the storms that we have been experiencing over recent days eventuated.
Local golfer, Eli Brennan, who played off 5, took out the Nett honours with a score of nett 68. Joey Dean (MCC), also off a handicap of 5, secured 2nd-place one behind on 69, on a count back from Fairbairn’s Jason Mahoney.
Yass golfer James Stanford took out the “senior” prize with a gross score of 73. Unfortunately, there were no juniors in the field so that prize was not awarded
