For many years, there has been a challenge match (or matches) between the winners of the A Grade Pennant Divisions in the ACT-Monaro and Illawarra Districts. Until recently this was always just an inter-club organised event, and not a formal District event, but from this year on the DGA has agreed to financially support the winning ACT Club to help defer costs of travel and accommodation. This year the Gungahlin Lakes club won the ACT-Monaro A Grade Pennant Division and the Wollongong Club won their respective Illawarra District Division.
Gungahlin Lakes Team Captain Caleb Te Moananui recently reported that his team had won the challenge 10-4, which consisted of two separate matches one at Gungahlin Lakes in May (GL 7-0) and a return challenge at Wollongong last week (Illawarra 4-3).
