Goulburn recorded a strong 4.5 to 1.5 win over Royal Canberra at the Federal Golf Club on Sunday 6th April. Although a nice sunny day, strong blustery winds from the south-west made club selection and shot execution tricky. Once Jarred Hunt (5&4) win, Dom Falk (4&3 win) and Anthony Rath (3&1) win had finished their matches it was only up to Goulburn Captain Scotty Nolan and Jake Mitchell to get to dormie late in their matches, that the two Captain’s declared the result.
Goulburn last won this trophy in 2011, so will enjoy their new position as the District’s strongest A Grade team. They will play the winners of the Illawarra Distict’s equivalent Pennant competition later in the year.
My thanks to Stewart Jones from the DGA’s Match Committee for refereeing on the day and FEDERAL for hosting the event.
